And in the midst my grooving to almost everything by THEESatisfaction, James Brown Funky Good Time edit by Uncle Shecky aka AppleJac, Tilman Montanto's cover of Twice and my sister feeding me some of that Nawlin's love, I still find myself sad and lonely.  Sad because I find myself in love and hung up on some obvious traumas that obviously I have yet to deal with and lonely, because there is no one I really want to talk to about all this but the person involved but Im most times ashamed to do so...LE SIGH....

Anywho, to bring back all those feelings is none other than Jessica Johnson with Rain Song, who is working with Uncle Shecky for some tasty sonic treats

Maybe if Overton Park had bike AND walking lanes, maybe, just fucking maybe, I wouldnt have ran over that little cocker spaniel puppy. Maybe if dude didnt borrow my bike, my brakes would still be working. Maybe if the family didnt take up the entire pathway, maybe I would have just flown on by, hearing only the buzz of my bike. Maybe, if I veered to the left just a bit more, maybe I wouldn't have hit the poor pup and ran into a tree instead. Maybe if my shock didnt succumb me, maybe I could have yelled, "get out the way" in spanish. But NONE of these maybes happened and I shake my fists to the universe.

BRIGHT FUTURE presents BLKNSS BYND

Ever hear something and think to yourself that, "dammn, that would be a hot sample," well, I heard this sample from god knows where but I was like, I need that in my life.  The sample comes from Sounds of Blackness, Gonna Be Free One Day, from the Evolution of Gospel album, which is a good ole' soul stirring Negro Spiritual.   Using my favorite app in the world, Native Instruments IMaschine, I loaded some of my own vocal samples to give a indigenous feel to the track; ancient and recent just like I like it.  This does in fact sound like the evolution of gospel.  I am a proclaimed heathen and if this was been played in church, maybe I would get saved (again.) But this looks to be work in progress, so I am very intrigued as to how this manifests.  So here is BLKNESS BYND...enjoy!!!

Never have I have been so creative...she is such an inspiration to me (i inform her often)...no matter how good or bad I am feeling, she moves me to create and I love her for that.

SBTRKT Hold On - Jamsteady Remix

I admit, I am a sucker for cover art. My love for graphics has played a major part in my musical selection. The cover art must complement the music; it must be the visual manifestation of the aural summation. They go together like hand and glove. I have purchased music such as Fela Kuti's Expensive Shit, Jazzanova's In Between and DJ Rel's Theme for a Broken Soul just off the visual alone. Call it branding, marketing if you want (and yes, its that too, but thats only part of it), cover art is the first thing excites my senses, peaking my interest, making me want to dig deeper into its sonic roots. And I must say that, my theory of awesome cover art equalling in awesome music has yet to fall short from the truth. 


 I first became familiar with SBTRKT by a good friend of mine whilst perusing her phone for some tunes. As soon as I cover, I knew immediately that I wanted to listen to them. It stared at me, commanding me to listen and I could do no less. Turns out, A Hidden Place, designed the mask that I must say blends modern, electrifying colors with familiar traces of indigenous art. By the way, the music as awesome too. If you are into Radiohead, Spacek and Little Dragon, chances are you will be digging this too.  


JoJo Flores of Jamsteady which also includes Rise Ashen and Rom Zareski posted this today on Facebook and I was too delighted.  First off, Hold On is one of my favorite tracks on the album and second, JoJo Flores added his therapeutic flavor.  Works well in a house or indie set and I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

FUCK YOU!!!

Mercury and Mars have shot off.  First, I tripped up the stairs and with the intention on NOT busting my ass, (which I accomplished thanks to the muscle memory of a negativa and role)  my IPHONE fell out my pocket and cracked.  A dj gig got cancelled at the last minute just after I turned down a promo gig for that same day. My phone is now off due to a woman in San Fran who has yet to pay my invoice. (people waiting on other people to get paid so they can pay people) I'm being hounded by a hag over a fucking mail order.  My mixer and headphones have mysteriously been vandalized.  I had to cancel a promo.  My rice cooker went out, so did my favorite space heater.  I have had it up to here with the motion of the heavens...


Having ORI TUTU (cool head) ain't easy...It requires me to think first, rather than acting on my initial feelings.  I am doing my best to keep that at the forefront of every misfortune but that still doesn't negate the fact that I wanna cuss, scream, and just down right kick some ass to make me feel better.  Instead, I give the middle finger to all that hinders my progress, my success, my peace, my joy, my sanity; FUCK YOU!!! ase ase ase O!!!

Jungle Boogie Saturday Feb. 25 10pm

This event has become medicine for some people, including myself.  When I am there, I show up and show out.  I allow the music take over my senses and submit to the spirit.  We exchange energy.  We add joy to the planet.  This is how I do/take part of creating/maintaining harmony in the universe.  Everyone feels like family.  It's gonna be bananas!!!  RahFiyah will get her wish that night; a night with me djing, more alcohol, some grinding and maybe some bad things happening in the dark. Well, Merry Christmas lady!
